Prozac is an antidepressant that’s mainly used to treat major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic disorder. Also known by its generic name, fluoxetine, Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).
Prozac was the first anti depressant that I took, back in the 1990’s. I remember it not being particulary effective and of course there were side effects, don’t they all!
I’ve noticed that one psych med can be life changing in a good way for some people, and for others it can be totally destructive. Therefore, when reading online reviews about psych meds we are taking or are about to take (we all do it) it’s important to keep an open mind – it’s basically a gamble as to whether the meds are going to work or not.
Prozac side effects:
Loss of libido was the main side effect of prozac for me. This is a common side effect of most anti depressants for some reason. Eating plenty of food rich in zinc can help with this.
